The area is still predominantly a rural community with 18 active farms and a further eleven or so agricultural related businesses. Over the last 40 years the number of active farms has fallen from 43 to its present 18. Farms have been sold off in some cases amalgamating with other farms or the land let for grazing. Farmhouses have become residential houses. Farms producing milk have fallen from 37 to the present number of 2.
The are however a number of other local businesses within the area providing a variety of local and even international services. In many instances these are small home-run enterprises and some 60 people are employed full-time and 30 people part time many of whom live in the parish
