The Art Club in Crosthwaite has now been running for over 35 years, having been started in 1990. Members meet weekly for two ten week terms – October to December and January to March. Meetings take place in the Argles Memorial Hall, starting at 1.30pm and finishing at 4pm, with a break for tea and biscuits at around 3pm. It should be emphasized that this is a club, not an art class, as there is no regular instruction. Members help and advise one another, and offer constructive criticism. The club is run on a not for profit basis, only aiming to cover the costs of the hire of the hall. Termly fees are currently in the region of £20.
Members use a variety of media – water colour, acrylic, oil, pastel and pencil. Members have a wide range of experience, and everyone comes to enjoy their art in a peaceful and encouraging environment. New members are always welcome, whether beginners or experienced.
Dates for meetings can be seen for the Argles Memorial Hall on the Crosthwaite and Lyth Parish website. For any further information contact Pat Howarth 07765010252 or email .
