At the recent Parish Council Meeting it was reported that talks are continuing with Cumbria County Council Highways Department with regard to traffic speeds through the village and that this is tied in with talks on the village Walkway.
Highways England will be holding a Drop In meeting at the Gilpin Bridge in on Thursday 27 June 2019, 1pm to 7pm to hear opinions on the A590 only-the stretch from Meathop roundabout to Brettargh Halt Roundabout.
The Council donated £500 to the Recreation Field Trust specifically to be used to maintain the Children's Play Area
Friends of Crosthwaite School are holding a Duck Day at Bowland Bridge on Saturday June 22nd (12-4pm). Admission free, live music, BBQ, bar, traditional games, craft and produce stalls and much more.
St Mary's Church, Crosthwaite are urgently seeking a new treasurer. Some IT skills including word processing and spreadsheets are required. The voluntary position is open to anyone with the necessary skills. Please contact Michael Woodcock on 015395 68276.
This year's Strawberry Tea takes place on Sunday July 7th, 2-4pm. Tickets Adults £3.50 , children £2 (in advance)adults £4 on the day. Admission includes strawberries and cream, a scone and a drink.
In addition to the usual games, stalls and entertainment, there will be a Scarecrow competition this year. Children are invited to make a scarecrow, which will be displayed and judged on the day, with prizes for the winners. Details and advance tickets from Jim Bownass 015395 68203.
