Crosthwaite Art Club

The Art Club has been in existence for 26 years, having been started by Sally Crosson in 1990. The members meet weekly for two ten-week terms October-December and January-March. Meetings take place in Argles Memorial Hall at 1.45 p.m. on Monday afternoons for a 2½ hour session. It must be emphasised that this is a Club and not an art class, as there is no regular formal instruction. Instead, members endeavour to help one another and to offer constructive criticism, and at present we have a teacher who we hope will come for two or three sessions each term.

The Club is a non-profit making organisation but there is a small subscription of an amount that ensures that there is sufficient in aggregate to pay the charges for the hire of the Hall and the fees of the instructor. Tea and biscuits are provided and served by members on a rota basis during the afternoon. The Club has a small library of art books. Members use a variety of media: watercolour, acrylic, pastel and oils. Members also meet occasionally, on an ad hoc basis, in the summer for painting outside. New members of whatever ability (or none!) are always welcome.

The Art Club restarts in October, please see "Two Valleys Parish News" for details. Contact Peter Windsor phone 68554.
