Westmorland Gazette May 9th

Crosthwaite and Lyth Parishioners are invited to the Annual Parish Meeting to be held on Tuesday May 21st at 7.30pm in Argles Memorial Hall.

The speaker will be the Steering Group for the Neighbourhood Plan. All your Parish Councillors will be present and available, and you are welcome to raise any matters you wish. The Clerk will also be present with Council files and you are welcome to ask questions of him regarding the work of the Council. Also present will be people from your community who run associations and clubs, and they will be providing an update of their activities for the past year along with plans for the coming year.

Crosthwaite and Lyth WI are holding their second ‘Open Meeting’ of the year on Wednesday May 15th at 8pm, in the Village Hall. All are invited to hear speaker Adrian Lees’ talk on ‘Picturesque:The Crosthwaite Connection’. Admission is £2.50, and includes light refreshments.

Barbie and John Handley are opening their magnificent garden at Low Fell West, Crosthwaite, on Sunday May 12th from 11am-5pm. All proceeds will go to the National Garden Scheme (NGS). This organisation supports a range of nursing charities, including McMillan, Marie Curie, Parkinson’s UK, and MIND. Tea and home made cakes will be on sale.

Crosthwaite Annual Jumble Sale and Auction takes place on Saturday May 11th at 1pm in the Village Hall. This popular event is a major fundraiser for the upkeep of the Hall. Come along and support the Hall, have fun grabbing yourself a bargain, and bid for the higher quality items on offer in the auction.
Donations accepted at the hall from 2pm on Friday, and on Saturday morning.
Refreshments on sale, Admission 50p.
