Oh yes it is! Crosthwaite Panto is finally on its way! Dracula and his band of Merry Dwarfs, Fred Wordsworth and a host of others will be making their entrance in the Village Hall at 7pm on Friday January 25th and Saturday January 26th. A few tickets are still available, don't miss this fan(g)tastic annual event! Contact Jim Bownass on 015395 68203.

Messy Church takes place on Saturday January 19th, 10.30am-12.30pm in Crosthwaite School. Come along to enjoy craft activities, family fun, stories and worship, followed by a hot meal together. The event is free of charge, though donations are welcome. Tickets are not needed, but for catering purposes please let Lindsay Dobson know if you are planning to attend, on 07729056247.

Lyth Valley Farmers Discussion Group meet on Monday January21st at The Gilpin Inn at 7.30pm. The speaker is Trevor Hughes who will be giving a talk on his book 'The Yards of Kendal'. This will be an Open Night, all welcome.

Wassail Day takes place on Saturday January 19th, starting in the orchard of Mrs Pat Walker at The Row, Lyth. The ceremony begins at 1.30 prompt, and will go ahead regardless of the weather. Guests will be joined by Kendal Revellers who will lead the singing of Wassail songs around 'our tree'. There will be damson cake and damson beer, made from damsons from the tree. There will be dancing by Crook Morris, and from there the party will move to the Hare and Hounds, Bowland Bridge for dancing, singing,a performance of a traditional Christmas Mummers Play and music sessions throughout the day and late into the night. All are welcome to join in the fun.
