Crosthwaite Community News report December 6th 2018

Parish Councillor Roger Smith is keen to collect residents' views on the proposed footpath, from the Starnthwaite crossroads to the Punch Bowl. This is a narrow and winding section of road. There is restricted ability for pedestrians to see oncoming vehicles, and for the vehicles to see pedestrians on the bends. At times this stretch is quite busy with cars, lorries and commercial vehicles. As a result, many residents, especially those with prams, pets and young children, and those whose mobility is compromised, have reported feeling vulnerable whilst walking along this stretch of road. It is felt that a footpath would improve safety, but would also encourage people to walk rather than use their card for short journeys. If the proposal receives support, the next stage would be to secure funding for the project. It is therefore important that all views, for and against, are represented so that the Parish Council can make an informed decision on how to move forward with the plan. There will be a public meeting held early in the New Year, and the proposals will be available for viewing at various locations in the village.

Please contact Roger Smith to discuss the proposal, and to register your views, on
