Crosthwaite and Lyth WI AGM takes place at Argles Memorial Hall on Wednesday November 21st. Election of Committee Members will be followed by entertainment performed by members.

A special charity event is being planned for next year, December 2019, in St Mary’s Church, Crosthwaite. A number of Artificial Christmas Trees will be needed, and the organisers would be pleased to receive any unwanted trees, regardless of size, type or colour to help stage this event. Trees no longer needed after this Christmas can be collected and will be stored until needed. If you have an unwanted artificial tree please contact Wendy Townend, 015395 68263,

As part of the Global Youth Ambassadors Programme, (GYAP) Crosthwaite Primary School teacher Miss Gunby has embarked upon a week long visit to China. During the visit Miss Gunby will visit schools with a view to establishing sustainable links with a school (or schools) in China. The aim of the programme is to develop global citizens and increase children’s’ knowledge of the wider world. It is hoped that staff from China will be visiting Crosthwaite School in 2019, and that Chinese pupils will be joining classes in the Spring. Host families who would be willing to provide accommodation for the visitors, which would be for 8 days, and is funded, are invited to contact Matthew Jessop, 015395 68471,

The eagerly awaited and ever popular Crosthwaite Pantomime takes place at 7pm on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th January 2019. This year it is the World Premiere of the specially commissioned ‘Dracula and the (approximately) 7 Dwarfs’.
