Crosthwaite Community News report - 4th October 2018

There will be a Special Service of Evensong for all the Two Valleys Churches at 5pm on Sunday October 7th in St. Mary’s Church, Crosthwaite. There will be tea and cake from 4pm, and the service will be led by Dorothy Grace, her first as a Licensed Lay Minister following her investiture at Carlisle Cathedral on October 6th. Dorothy welcomes all members of the Two Valleys community to this special celebration and hopes to welcome friends for tea and cake, regardless of whether they plan to attend the service.

In a break with tradition, there will not be a Harvest Supper in Crosthwaite this year. It has been decided to hold a Harvest Lunch following the Harvest Festival Service at 11am on Sunday October 14th instead. This year, the service will be followed at 12.30 pm by a simple Harvest Lunch of soup and a pudding in the Village Hall. Tickets for the meal are free of charge, available from Geraldine Wilson on 015395 68836. This is a Community event, to which all are invited, regardless of whether they have attended the Church Service beforehand. Donations are invited to cover the cost of the meal, and also donations of any non- perishable foods are welcome. These will be given to The King’s Food Bank in Kendal.
